Yerevan Court Sentences Former MP to Nine Years for 2008 Robbery

A Yerevan court today sentenced former Armenian MP Levon Sargsyan (aka Flourmill Lyovik) to nine years on charges of ordering and heading a robbery of the house of former State Customs Committee head Armen Avetisyan fourteen years ago.

Suren Ghazaryan, Sargsyan’s son-in-law was sentenced to eight years in the case.

45 million AMD in gold and other items were stolen at gun point on October 27, 2008. 

Some ten individuals were arrested for the crime including police officer Armen Nikoghosyan; Ara Karapetyan, manager of the "SAS" supermarket chain in Yerevan, described in the press as a "favorite" of Levon Sargsyan, and others.
