Armenian Sappers Clear More Land in Aleppo

Sappers attached to Armenia’s humanitarian mission to Syria have demined an additional 137,000 square meters of land in Syria’s Aleppo province.

The land was handed over at an official ceremony attended by Aleppo Deputy Mayor Kumayt Sheikh Asi.

Armenia sent a new team of sappers and other personnel to Syria in June 2019 to replace a team of 83 demining experts, medical personnel, and security officers who were sent to Syria in February of that year.

To date, Armenian sappers have demined more than one million square meters of territory in Aleppo.

Armenian medics have aided more than 45,000 residents.

Russian planes were instrumental in transporting members of the Armenian humanitarian mission to Syria.
