No Progress in Armenia Peace Talks, Says Azerbaijani Foreign Minister
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told reporters in Baku that while there is no significant progress in normalization talks with Armenia, there is no alternative to long-term peace and development in the region.
The Azeri-Press Agency (APA) quotes Bayramov as saying that while “revanchist” sentiments still exist in Armenia, clear changes are taking place in Armenian society regarding Azerbaijan.
Speaking about demarcating the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, Bayramov noted that this process will take a long time.
"Given the history of relations with Armenia, it will not be so easy to achieve. Nevertheless, the start of the process is already a good step," Bayramov said, adding that the date of the border commission's next meeting is yet to be confirmed.
"We should divide peace negotiations into stages, as a process," Bayramov told reporters. “The next stage is a look to the future. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has made a call in this regard.”
Bayramov said the border demarcation process should be conducted by analyzing historical and legal documents with the participation of experts.
