Ankara Awaits Concrete Steps from Armenia, Says Turkish Foreign Minister

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, during an interview with TRT Haber today, said that Ankara “wants to see concrete steps from Armenia” to advance the normalization process between the two countries.

"Both Azerbaijan and Turkey are sincere in this matter. We want to see concrete steps from Armenia. We are coordinating this process with Azerbaijan because we are one nation, two states," Çavuşoğlu said.

He noted that meetings between Armenian and Azerbaijani representatives have taken place in Moscow and Brussels, and that a commission was created to demarcate the Armenia-Azerbaijani border.

Çavuşoğlu said Turkey wants peace in the South Caucasus, and the positions of Turkey and Azerbaijan following the 2020 war are clear.

Referring to last week’s telephone conversation between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Çavuşoğlu said   Erdoğan presented Pashinyan with Ankara’s conditions on normalizing Armenian-Turkish relations.

Çavuşoğlu didn’t specify what those conditions are.
