Former Armenian HRD Criticizes Pashinyan Government for Handing Over Armenian Settlements in Lachin Corridor

Former Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, in a Facebook post today, criticizes the authorities in Armenia for agreeing to hand over Armenian settlements in the Lachin Corridor to Azerbaijan.

Tatoyan writes that the move puts Armenia in danger and that the Pashinyan government never received such a mandate from voters.

Tatoyan says a recent fact-finding mission to the village of Aghvano found that Azerbaijani troops are slaughtering animals and discarding their organs into the water used by village residents.

He said that cases of mass water poisoning have been registered.

Tatoyan writes that Azerbaijani troops fire on villagers trying to farm their fields.

“The handover of Berdzor and Aghavno to Azerbaijan is another manifestation of the destructive policy of the Armenian authorities,” Tatoyan writes.

He does not specify who would guarantee the safety of Armenians remaining in the Lachin Corridor once it's handed over to Azerbaijan as per the November 9, 2020 ceasefire agreement.
