Armenian, Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss Karabakh, Border Demarcation
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Russia met today in Moscow and discussed issues related to the further development of the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership and alliance relations, including cooperation in trade, economy and scientific and cultural spheres.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergey Lavrov discussed regional security issues, the demarcation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, and work to reopen transportation links in the South Caucasus.
According to a statement released by Mirzoyan’s office, the two also discussed normalizing relations between Yerevan and Baku and the Karabakh conflict.
Mirzoyan highlighted Russian efforts, including as its role as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, aimed at the lasting and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Referring to the humanitarian problems caused by the 2020 Artsakh war, Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the early repatriation of Armenian POWs and other detained persons, as well as the need to preserve the Armenian historical and cultural heritage in the territories under Azerbaijani control.
