One Armenian Soldier Injured in Border Skirmish
One Armenian soldier was injured on Wednesday border in a fresh round of fighting along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
The Armenian Defense Ministry said the soldier was wounded when his unit was attacked by Azerbaijani mortar and small arms fire.
The skirmish occurred near the village of Sotk in Armenia’s Gegharkunik province.
The ministry said Armenian troops responded in kind and silenced the Azerbaijani guns.
Ministry spokesman Aram Torosyan denied Azerbaijani claims that Armenian forces opened fire on its troops in Karabakh’s Kelbajar district bordering Gegharkunik, using mortars, grenade launchers and automatic weapons.
The wounded Armenian soldier is reported to be in stable condition.
