Teachers at Armenia’s Armavir Regional College have been on strike since September 8, demanding the resignation of the college’s director Angin Arshakyan.

The teachers say Arshakyan failed to show up for work for a week earlier this month and has committed “illegalities.", mostly centering on the mismanagement of college funds.

In response, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has urged the teachers to return to work or face disciplinary measures.

On September 23, the teachers assembled outside the ministry’s office in Yerevan to voice their concerns. Minister Vahram Dumanyan met with some of the teachers, promising to review their concerns.
