Pashinyan Proposes International Observer Mission Along Border

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, citing continuing military threats from Azerbaijan, has called for an international observer mission to be deployed along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

Pashinyan, at today’s government cabinet session, said the proposal will be conveyed to the country’s international partners.

He said that Azerbaijan is using threats and aggression to disrupt normal life in Armenia and that his government is making every effort to “establish lasting peace and stability in the region.”

Pashinyan said his administration will continue to reform Armenia’s education sector and the military, processes that will require substantial government funding.

Pashinyan said “the world order is collapsing before our eyes” and that Armenia must exhibit increased flexibility to navigate this “turbulent ocean.”
