Armenia Needs Immediate Security Solutions, Simonyan Tells Russian Duma Chairman

Armenian National Speaker Alen Simonyan met with Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin in Moscow today and said that CSTO failed to properly respond to last month’s Azerbaijani attacks against Armenia.

“Armenia does not have time for long-term security solutions," Simonyan told Volodin according to a statement released by the Armenian parliamentary speaker’s office.

Simonyan expressed hope recent CSTO proposals will contribute to the de-escalation of the situation and the establishment of stability in the South Caucasus.

Issues related to the Armenian diaspora in Russia and the recent influx of Russian citizens to Armenia were discussed.

Simonyan is on a three-day official visit to Russia. The Duma is the lower house of Russia’s Federal Assembly (legislature).
