
Armenian, Russian, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Meet in Astana
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia met today on the sidelines of the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The ministers, according to an Armenian government statement, discussed implementation of the agreements on November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, touched on Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation and security, and unblocking economic communications and transport infrastructures in the South Caucasus.
They exchanged views on the ongoing Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty process and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, the immediate release of all Armenian prisoners of war, and the unconditional observance of the ceasefire regime.
The introduction of international mechanisms for monitoring and regulating the border situation was highlighted in terms of preventing new aggressions.
CICA is a multi-national forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. It has twenty-seven members, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey.
