Artsakh Delegation, Pashinyan Discuss Karabakh Issue
Almost a week after arriving in Yerevan, a delegation headed by Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan today met with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.
The delegation came to Armenia to get clarification from government officials regarding October 6 Prague statement confirming Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s commitment to recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Pashinyan, according to his office, said that all information regarding peace talks with Azerbaijan will be provided to Artsakh officials.
The Artsakh delegation met yesterday with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Khachaturyan, according to his office, told Harutyunyan that Yerevan can never sign any document behind the back of Stepanakert and that the Artsakh issue remains on the agenda of the Armenian government.
Accompanying Harutyunyan is Artsakh Foreign Minister Davit Babayan, who discussed the matter today with Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, a Pashinyan ally.
After meeting with Khachaturyan, Babayan told reporters that any peace deal must specify that such mutual border recognition doesn’t apply to Karabakh.
