Macron Tells Aliyev France Supports Yerevan-Baku Normalization

French President Emmanuel Macron, in a telephone conversation yesterday with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, expressed his readiness to support the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku.

The Elysée Palace, in a statement, writes, "The President of the Republic has confirmed France's full readiness to support the process of normalization of relations between the two countries and to work on a political decision in the region that will enable peace to be established," the statement said.

Macron welcomed the stabilizing effect of the European Union's civilian observation mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border based on the October 6 in Prague during the four-way meeting of Emmanuel Macron, European Council President Charles Michel, President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The Elysée Palace also announced that Macron and Pashinyan will meet on November 19 in Tunis on the sidelines of the Francophonie Summit in Tunisia.
