Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, addressing the 43rd Ministerial Session of La Francophonie today, said September’s Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia is further proof that UN-based collective security mechanisms can no longer guarantee the security of states against the aggressive policies of others.  

“Let's not forget the gross violations of international humanitarian law, the terrible atrocities committed by the Azerbaijani military against Armenian prisoners, including female soldiers, which horrified the world,” Mirzoyan said, according to a transcript released by his office.

Mirzoyan told attendees that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev continues to threaten the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia and make unfounded territorial claims.

He thanked those countries that have recognized Azerbaijani violations of Armenia’s territorial integrity and called for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from Armenia.
