Bust of Legendary Gymnast Albert Azaryan Unveiled in Yerevan

Legendary Armenian gymnast, 93-year-old Albert Azaryan, proudly stood beside Armenian government officials, to witness the unveiling of a bust in his honor in the courtyard of a children’s sports school named after him in Yerevan.

Azaryan, nicknamed “King of the Rings” for his prowess in the sport, is a three-time Olympic champion, four-time world, and two-time European champion.

Attending the unveiling were Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan, President of the Armenian National Association of Youth and Sports Gagik Tsarukyan, Deputy Minister Karen Giloyan, Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports Sisak Gabrielyan, representatives from Yerevan Municipality, famous athletes, and other officials.

"Many times’ champion of the Olympic Games, famous and respected athlete in the international arena, 93-year-old Albert Azaryan, is still with us today, energetic and proud," stated Dumanyan. “You have earned that right and deserve this honor. I wish that for many more years, when you come to morning training, you will look at your bust and understand that you are our pride."
