2022 Junior Eurovision Contest Kicks Off in Yerevan
The opening ceremony of the 2022 Junior Eurovision Contest will take place in Yerevan today with the sixteen participants walking the red carpet in Republic Square to enter the National Gallery of Armenia.
Armenia won the right to host the competition, set for December 11, after winning the 2021 contest in Paris. Armenia's Maléna won in 2021 with the song "Qami Qami".
This was Armenia's second victory in the contest, following its win in 2010.
Following a lottery draw to decide the order of performances, a New Year’s fairytale musical will be staged in the square.
The sixteen participants will then officially light Yerevan’s Christmas tree.
