Armenian Deputy PM, UNICEF Rep Discuss Protection of Children's Rights

Armenian Deputy PM Hambardzum Matevosyan and Christine Weigand, acting permanent representative of the United Nations in Armenia who also represents the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), met in Yerevan and discussed steps to overcome problems related to the protection of children's rights, including health and living standard challenges, faced by minors in Armenia.

Referring to the UNICEF 2021-2025 action plan in Armenia, Matevosyan emphasized the inclusion of a humanitarian response to address the needs of children displaced by military operations in the Karabakh conflict zone and those in Armenia border communities under threat of Azerbaijani attacks.

The two, according to Matevosyan’s office, spoke about the possibility of expanding cooperation, specifically in the field of education.
