Vardan Ghukasyan, the former mayor of Armenia’s second largest city, has been charged with illegally expropriating plots of land, some state-owned, while mayor between 1999 and 2012.

Armenia’s Investigative Committee writes evidence gathered also points to money laundering on Ghukasyan’s part.
