Kremlin Spokesman: U.N. Peacekeepers to Karabakh Only If Yerevan and Baku Agree

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov today said U.N. peacekeepers can only be dispatched to Karabakh with the consent of both Yerevan and Baku.

He was referring to remarks made yesterday by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan that Moscow could initiate the dispatch of a multinational mission to Nagorno-Karabakh in the U.N. Security Council if it is unable to fulfill its own obligations in the region.

“There are constant contacts at the working at other levels. Of course, this topic has been repeatedly on the agenda. But any mission can be sent only with the consent of both sides of the conflict,” Peskov said in response to a question whether Moscow and Yerevan have discussed the topic.
