Internet Service Severed in Artsakh; Stepanakert Accuses Baku

Fixed internet service in Artakh was severed today and mobile internet service is sporadic according Karabakh Telecom.

The company says a damaged internet cable that connects Artsakh to Armenia is the culprit and that it’s located close to where Azerbaijani “eco-activists” have blocked the Lachin Corridor for close to a month now.

Many believe the cable was damaged by the Azerbaijanis.

Later in the day, Artsakh Human Rights Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan accused Azerbaijan of “deliberately cutting the communication wires from Armenia”.

Stepanyan wrote the following in a Facebook post:

“The Azerbaijani side deliberately paralyzes the work of vital infrastructures, taking advantage of the fact that they pass through the territories under Azerbaijani control. This is clearly evidenced by the disruptions of gas supply (March 2022, December 2022), the obstruction of repairs of high-voltage electric wires since January 9, and periodic disruptions of the Internet and mobile communication in the territory of Artsakh.”

Stepanyan said states and international structures, first the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group (Russia, France, the U.S.) are obliged to put an end to Azerbaijani criminal permissiveness and impunity.
