The Artsakh Foreign Ministry issued a statement today thanking those European Parliament deputies who have introduced a resolution urging Azerbaijan to immediately reopen the Lachin Corridor.

“"We express our gratitude to those deputies who have shown a principled position regarding the need to prevent Azerbaijan's inhumane policy towards Artsakh and its people,” the ministry’s statement reads.

The ministry says it supports the resolution that calls for a UN or OSCE fact-finding mission to the Lachin corridor to assess the humanitarian situation on the ground.

“We again emphasize that the blockade of Artsakh is only one of the components of Azerbaijan's plan to destroy the people of Artsakh. By creating unbearable living conditions, Azerbaijan aims to expel the people of Artsakh from their historical homeland,” concludes the ministry’s statement.
