
Pashinyan Says Armenia Needs Strong Army for Peace, Not War
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan visited the Ministry of Defense today to mark Army Day, a public holiday commemorating the 31st anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of Armenia, and told those present that Armenia needs a strong, professional army not for war, but for peace.
Outlining reforms in the armed forces, Pashinyan stressed that the role of women must be expanded, including in combat posts.
Attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of the fifteen soldiers who died in a January 19 military barracks fire.
