Armenian, Egyptian Foreign Minsters Discuss Steps to Expand Cooperation

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met today in Yerevan and discussed steps to expand cooperation in the spheres of trade and economy, high technologies and tourism.

Shoukry is in Armenia as part of the delegation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The ministers, according to Mirzoyan’s office, underscored the importance of expanding the bilateral legal framework between the two countries and discussed issues of international and regional security and stability.

The process of normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations was also discussed.

Mirzoyan briefed Shoukry on the daily deteriorating humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin Corridor, emphasizing that Azerbaijan is flagrantly violating the provisions of the Trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020 and international humanitarian law. Mirzoyan stressed Azerbaijan aims to subject the Armenians of Artsakh to ethnic cleansing.

Mirzoyan also briefed his counterpart on the process to normalize Armenia-Turkey relations.
