8,000 Repatriation Applications in 2022, Says Diaspora High Commissioner

High Commissioner of Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan today reported that his office received 8,000 repatriation applications in 2022 and that work is underway to create a Repatriation and Integration Center in Armenia to facilitate their relocation.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and other government officials visited Sinanyan’s office for an update of the department’s work.

Sinanyan told Pashinyan that an Armenian language course has been established for those moving to Armenia seeking to improve their language skills.

He noted the first Global Armenian Summit was held in Yerevan last year with six hundred participants from forty-five countries.

Sinanyan said a draft repatriation law has been formulated and work is ongoing to establish a Diaspora Armenian Council.
