
Armenians in Turkey Donate $132,700 for Earthquake Victims
According to the Istanbul-based online news site Duvar, Turkey’s Armenian community has donated 2.5 million TL (US$132,700) to aid victims of this week’s earthquake that has killed an estimated 21,000.
Armenian Foundations Union and Surp Pırgiç Hospital Chair Bedros Şirinoğlu announced the news today according to Duvar.
The Patriarchate of Armenians in Turkey arranged for a bus to take eighteen members of the community from the quake-hit region to Istanbul, according to reporting by the Turkish-Armenian weekly Agos.
