Today staff members of the Police Department’s Main Examination Board have completed an audit of documents seized from the Aramous Municipality in Kotayk Marz.

Aramous Mayor Hrayr Nikoghosyan told Hetq that all his papers had been taken ad that all he has left in his office is the community’s “official seal".

Earlier today, cops had arrived with a court order t search the municipality and to seize a variety of documents and other papers. The locked the office doors during their search.

MPs of the Prosperous Armenia Party arrived on the scene sometime later to find out what was happening.  (Mayor Nikoghosyan is a member of this party). The two MPs said that the police were not courteous ad refused t offer any explanations for their actions.  Cops even prevented the MPs from entering the municipality.

The MPs and Mayor Nikoghosyan implied that the search might be politically motivated. The mayor pointed to abuses at the community school as a reason for the search.

“Of course I’ve helped the school. I might not have allocated funds but all the windows have been changed and a new classroom has been built. If the school board has presented a petition, of course I have helped. It’s our school,” said the mayor.

Nikoghosyan says that he stopped providing funds to the school in the past 2-3 years when a government decision prohibited the municipality for assisting a state institution.

He rejects allegations that he gave funds for the school gym.

We should note that Mayor Nikoghosyan recently had a cardio stent implant. When the police showed up on his doorstep, the mayor temporarily lost consciousness due to low blood pressure.

Police did not permit the mayor to leave the premises, and Nikoghosyan pleaded with them to let relatives bring his medicine from home.
