Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today claimed that Armenia is purchasing millions of dollars of weapons and that this rapid rearming poses new threats to his country.

Aliyev made the claim during a conversation with newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Sridharan Madhusudhanan.

Aliyev’s office quotes him as asking if Armenia really wants peace with Azerbaijan, then why is it buying weapons worth100 millions of dollars.

 Aliyev claimed that revanchist forces are rising in Armenia and that territorial claims against Azerbaijan continue.
