Armenian Law Enforcement Seize $750K of Smuggled Butter, Cream
Armenian authorities seized 280 tons of butter and cream shipped in trucks from Iran to Armenia, ostensibly destined to the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri and thus exempted from customs tax, after it was revealed that the dairy products were to be sold on the open market.
Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) today reported that a criminal group falsified import documents for the dairy products, worth US$750,000.
The SRC reports the trucks never made it to the military base after leaving a Yerevan customs terminal but parked in lot outside the Armenian capital.
