EU Upbeat on Armenia-Azerbaijan Talks Today in Moldova

European Council President Charles Michel told reporters today at the European Political Community Summit in Moldova that he hopes Azerbaijan and Armenia will reaffirm their political will to normalize relations.

Michel confirmed that a meeting with the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, France, and Germany will take place today, describing it as an “important meeting”.

During a May 22 press conference in Yerevan, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan announced that he recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including Nagorno Karabakh, but emphasized that the security and rights of Armenians there must be ensured.

The leaders of forty-seven European countries will attend the second European Political Summit that opened today near Chişinău, Moldova. Issues related to peace, security and energy will be discussed.
