U.S. Official in Armenia for Energy Talks

Justin Friedman, Senior Advisor of the U.S. Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation (State Department), arrives in Armenia today to discuss prospects of Armenian-American cooperation for Armenia's safe and secure energy future.

The bureau leads U.S. efforts to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction (nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons) and their delivery systems.

It’s assumed that Friedman and Armenian government officials will discuss recent talks between Armenia and Russia to build new nuclear plants in Armenia.

In May, Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev and Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan discussed the matter.

Rosatom, is a Russian state corporation headquartered in Moscow that specializes in nuclear energy, nuclear non-energy goods and high-tech products.
