Yerevan Sit-Ins Outside Russian, U.S., French Embassies in Solidarity with Artsakh

Protesters gathered outside the Russian Embassy in Yerevan, calling on Moscow to fulfill its obligation, according to the 2020 Artsakh war ceasefire it brokered with Armenia and Azerbaijan, to ensure free movement of people and traffic along the Lachin Corridor

Sit-in protests also took place outside the American and French embassies and the European Union’s representation.

The protests were organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF).

Opposition Hayastan (Armenia) faction MP Gegham Manukyan told Hetq that Russia’s inaction on the matter fuels Azerbaijan’s intransigence to reopen the roadway.

Manukyan, nevertheless, said the presence of Russian peacekeepers must remain in Karabakh to ensure the safety of Artsakh Armenians and to prevent their ethnic cleansing by Baku.

"Our demand is not to forget the Artsakh issue, the current situation of Artsakh Armenians, and to take steps so that Azerbaijan is much more restrained and fulfills its obligations and paves the way for Artsakh," said Manukyan.

The sit-ins will end tomorrow.
