Pashinyan Marks Constitution Day - "All Equal Before the Law"

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, in a statement issued today marking the twenty-eighth anniversary of the adoption of the country’s constitution, says all in Armenia are equal before the law and “no innocent person can be convicted, arrested or detained unnecessarily.”

Pashinyan says that while significant progress has been made to reform the country’s judicial system much work remains, and his administration is determined to proceed steadily to guarantee lasting results.

He noted that ensuring external security is a serious challenge to constitutional order and his government’s peace agenda is vital for Armenia’s long-term sovereignty and security.

Armenia’s constitution has been amended twice, in 2005 and 2015, since its adoption via a referendum on July 5, 1995.
