Newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani today handed a copy of his diplomatic credentials to Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan.

Mirzoyan, according to his office, congratulated Sobhani on assuming the post, saying he hopes the newly appointed ambassador will make an important contribution to the further development of relations between the two friendly and neighboring countries.

Sobhani expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and expressed his readiness to work to further promote relations between the two countries.

The two discussed several issues related to the comprehensive Armenian-Iranian agenda and exchanged ideas on regional security issues.

Mirzoyan emphasized that Armenia seeks to establishing stable peace in the South Caucasus, which will be beneficial for all the peoples of the region.

Both sides emphasized the need to settle all existing problems peacefully and through negotiations.
