Woman Faces Five Years in Jail for Throwing Umbrella at Pashinyan

A woman charged with throwing an umbrella at PM Nikol Pashinyan faces from two to five years imprisonment if found guilty.

47-year-old Narineh Asatryan is accused of throwing an unopened umbrella at Pashinyan on April 10 during the prime minister’s visit to Malishka, a village near Yeghegnadzor.

Pashinyan went to Malishka to inspect work to repave the village’s roadways.

Asatryan, who was arrested and later released, is banned from leaving the country as the case goes to court.

Hetq contacted Papaz Avagyan, the woman’s lawyer, for comment. He said he was too busy to talk to us.
