Armenian First Lady in Kyiv; Raises Karabakh Humanitarian Crisis

Anna Hakopyan, wife of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, arrived in Kyiv yesterday to attend the 3rd Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, an international dialog platform for spouses of the world's top leaders to share experiences and implement joint projects for the well-being of all.

Hakobyan, according to her office, and other attendees visited an exhibition in Kyiv commemorating children who have died due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

"We are returning from the Children's Martyrdom exhibit, where we remembered the children martyred in Ukraine from February 24, 2022 until now. When I think about what the future has in store for my children, the children of my country, and the children of the world, I think most of all about the children who no longer have a future, who remained in the past and whose memory we have just commemorated,” Hakobyan said after visiting the exhibit.

Hakobyan, in her speech, talked about the 120,000 residents of Artsakh, including 30,000 children, cut off from the rest of world resulting from Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin Corridor. “Thirty thousand children living in Nagorno-Karabakh suffer from malnutrition and lack of food. They must stand in line for hours to get the minimum amount of food, Hakobyan said.
