Armenian Defense Ministry Officials Arrested for Embezzlement

Five Armenian Defense Ministry officials were arrested today in Yerevan on charges of embezzling 106 million AMD (US$278,000).

The country’s Investigative Committee (IC) reports that the five, in collusion with several companies supplying goods to the ministry, forged procurement documents falsely showing that the contracted items were purchased and sent to the ministry.

The alleged violations occurred between 2019 and 2021. The IC doesn’t name the five officials, nor does it specify the nature of the items.
