Armenian Ombudswoman: Azerbaijan Implements Genocidal Policy

The Office of The Human Rights Defender Of Armenia summarized the results of its monitoring on the situation of human rights in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The deliberate targeting of civilian settlements and infrastructure by Azerbaijan has led to a humanitarian disaster in Nagorno-Karabakh.
In particular the monitoring concluded that:
  • There are many victims and wounded people, also among the civilian population, including children
  • There is no information about many people, including women, children and the elderly
  • Families are separated. As a result of the shelling, people were forced to leave their homes and settlements
  • The connection is disrupted both inside Nagorno Karabakh and with the outside world
  • The healthcare system has been paralyzed, people are deprived of the opportunity to receive even first aid
  • The fundamental rights of people are widely violated, including the right to live in peace and with dignity, receive education for children, health care, etc.
Azerbaijan implements a genocidal policy. The actions of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, official announcements, media publications, as well as the posts of Azerbaijani users of social networks clearly testify to the intention of the Azerbaijani authorities to carry out ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Office of the Human Rights Defender will continue the monitoring process.
