Lawyers Seek to Overturn Detention of Former Armenian President Kocharyan's Son

Defense lawyers for Levon Kocharyan, the son of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, who was arrested on September 22 at a Yerevan rally calling for the resignation of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, have filed an appeal to overturn a court’s decision to detain him for one month.

Levon Kocharyan is charged with beating four police officers at the rally.

Alexander Kochubaev, Kocharyan’s lawyer, says police officers severely beat his client during the arrest.
