Head of Helsinki Committee of Armenia Charged with "Inciting Violence"

Avetik Ishkhanyan, a well-known human rights defender in Armenia who heads the Helsinki Committee of Armenia, reports that he has been charged with “inciting violence” in a September 19 Facebook post entitled “Death to Traitors!”.

Here’s a translation of Ishkhanyan’s September 19 post.

DEATH TO TRAITORS!

It is possible that the war that started in 2020 and today was conditioned. What failed until the end in 2020, that is, the complete handover of Artsakh, is being attempted now. This was preceded by the anti-Russian statements of the traitor called the prime minister, the so-called observers of the EU, the Armenian-American military exercises, which created an excellent ground for the Azerbaijani attack.

Azerbaijan is in a hurry because the seat of its traitor is shaking.

It's all the same. Notwithstanding the traitors, Artsakh will remain standing.

Death to traitors!

Ishkhanyan today writes that he doesn’t regret posting the above.

“It is necessary to speak much more decisively, harshly and act against the traitors. It's a shame today if you haven't been charged, since you've adapted and come to terms with the loss of your homeland. During the Stalin period, they shot my two grandfathers and a grandmother. During the Brezhnev period, they took my father to the KGB and interrogated him. Finally, in the so-called independent, but pitiful Armenia, on the instructions of the head of state, I was also charged," Ishkhanyan writes.
