Lieutenant-General Eduard Asryan, who heads the  Armenian Army’s General Staff, met with Lieutenant General Steven Basham, the deputy head of U.S. European Command (EUCOM), at the EUCOM headquarters in the German city of Stuttgart last Friday.

The two, according to the Armenian Defense Ministry, discussed issues related to the development of Armenian-American military cooperation.

Basham, according to the ministry, expressed the readiness of the United States to continue supporting current cooperation programs, and to initiate new programs of cooperation in the following areas: professionalization of the armed forces, strengthening of professional sergeant ranks, modernization of the command system, peacekeeping, military medicine, military education and combat training. exercises etc.

Issues related to regional security were also discussed.
