Parajanov Statue Unveiled in Yerevan to Mark Film Director's 100th Birthday

A statue of film director and screenwriter Sergey Parajanov was unveiled today at Yerevan’s Cinema House to commemorate the artist’s 100th birthday.

Events marking the anniversary will be held throughout Armenia in 2024.

Parajanov, who was born in Tbilisi and died in Yerevan in 1990, is buried at the Komitas Pantheon in the Armenian capital.

Commemorations are also scheduled in Georgia and France.

Parajanov’s statue will be transferred to the space outside the Cinema House. The space will be named The Color of Pomegranates Square in honor of the artist’s 1969 film of the same name.
