Pashinyan to France 24: Azerbaijan Planning New War Against Armenia

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, in an interview with France 24 yesterday, said that Azerbaijan is preparing for a new war with Armenia.

Pashinyan accused Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev of not wanting a peace treaty with Armenia based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity but rather seeks to seize new territories in Armenia.

"Baku regards current Armenia as Western Azerbaijan", Pashinyan said

The Armenian leader denied Baku's accusations that Paris is adding fuel to the fire by providing Armenia with defensive military equipment and stressed that Azerbaijan spends "billion euros" to arm itself.

Pashinyan claimed that Moscow continues to urge Armenians to overthrow his government.

Regarding Armenia's membership in the Moscow-led CSTO military alliance, Pashinyan said it’s "frozen" because the CSTO, in 2021 and 2022, did not fulfill its obligations towards Armenia. "We will see what will happen tomorrow," Pashinyan added.

When asked if Armenia plans to remove the Russian military garrison in Gyumri, Pashinyan said his government isn’t discussing such a move right now.
