Armenian Parliament Committee Approves Bill to Restrict TV Broadcasting of "Erotic, Violent" Content
Two members of the Armenian parliament’s ruling Civil Contract faction have introduced a bill to restrict the TV broadcasting of “erotic and violent” films to between midnight and six in the morning.
MPs Alen Simonyan and Artur Hovhannisyan, during a session today of the parliament’s Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports, argued that such content “romanticizes” the criminal underworld and can “negatively impact the health and mental well-being of minors”.
The committee approved the bill at today’s second reading and it now goes before the full parliament for debate.
