Armenia to Allocate $47,500 for Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Armenia will spend US$47,500 (19M AMD) to allocate an estimated thirty tons of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

The government’s press service doesn’t specify what type of assistance will be sent to Gaza.

It does say the aid will be delivered to Egypt for distribution to the Gaza populace.

Only a trickle of outside aid is entering Gaza by land, prompting several countries to air drop aid in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Several NGOs and rights organizsations have accused Israel of deliberately blocking aid to Gaza as warnings of famine in the besieged strip rise.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited the Rafah crossing last Saturday and saw a long line of blocked relief trucks on the Egyptian side of the border.

Guterres described the situation a “moral outrage” and called on Israel to give people in Gaza unfettered access to humanitarian aid.

Israel claims it has placed no limits on the amount of aid that it will allow into Gaza and blames failures by aid agencies for delays.
