An Armenian Ministry of Defense official has been arrested on suspicion of accepting US$125,000 in bribes to issue medical deferments to several conscripts.

The ministry says the official worked at a provincial army commissariat and was provided with false medical records by the director of a local medical center.

The director was also charged with bribery.
