Noyemberyan Municipality Opposes Border Delimitation Deal

The Noyemberyan Municipality, in Armenia’s northeastern Tavush Province, says the recent border delimitation agreement signed by Armenia and Azerbaijan “contains extremely dangerous risks”.

The Armenian government, on Friday, announced it would hand over four areas in the province to Azerbaijan.

“The new border makes the most important parts of the community's territory vulnerable, which will pose a significant threat to the community's population,” a municipality statement reads.

“We support the establishment of peace, but this border delimitation process is actually a unilateral concession by Armenia, in the event that the Azerbaijani military continues to occupy many territories of the Republic of Armenia, including the Tavush province.”

The municipality says it wants nothing to do with implementing the border demarcation process.

Armenians sappers have started to demine the areas in question.
