Inside Georgia's Protests Against the 'Foreign Agent' Bill: What's Happening on Tbilisi's Streets
There are protests ongoing in Georgia, in response to a proposed "Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence." It would require NGOs and media outlets receiving more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as "agents of foreign influence." The bill passed its third and final reading in the Georgian parliament on May 14 and has been widely criticized as an attempt to suppress civil society and independent media.
