Christian Human Rights Organization Sought to Ban Baku from Summer Olympics

A Christian human rights organization based in Switzerland, on July 19, called on the International Olympics Committee (IOC) to ban Azerbaijan from the Paris Summer Games for its ethnic cleansing in Karabakh.

The Christian Solidarity International (CSI), in its petition drive, wrote “There is no place for genocide at the Olympics!”

“After Russia invaded Ukraine, the International Olympic Committee barred Russia and Belarus from sending national teams to the 2024 Olympics. Russian and Belarusian athletes may compete as neutrals, but not under their country' flag. The IOC should apply the same standard to Azerbaijan.”

The CSI published a detailed account of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War titled "Ethnic Cleansing in Progress: War in Nagorno Karabakh" co-authored by John Eibner and Baroness Caroline Cox.

Azerbaijan has sent forty-eight athletes to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
