Russian Border Guards Exit Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport

Russian border guards will no longer be posted at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport as of today.

Armenia, last March, officially notified Moscow to remove its border guards from the airport.

Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan told reporters at the time that Armenia has the resources to manage operations at the airport unaided.

Russian border guards will remain along Armenia’s border with Turkey.
