Paris: Armenian Gymnast Tells Fans He's Proud to Have Won Silver Medal

Armenian 2024 Summer Olympics gymnasts, brothers Artur and Vahagn Davtyan, were feted at a reception held today at the Olympic House of Armenia at the AGBU’s Paris office.

Artur Davtyan clinched a silver medal in the vault competition and Vahagn took sixth place for his performance on the rings. They are part of a fifteen-member team Armenia sent to the Paris games.

The thirty-one-year-old Artur Davtyan told fans that while he’s happy and proud to have won a silver medal, he wants to win a gold at the next Olympic games.

Gymnastics Federation of Armenia President Gagik Vanoyan said while he’s no longer satisfied with winning bronze and silver medals, every medal is the result of hard work.

Vanoyan stressed that the Armenian government’s investment in sports are paying off and boasted that Armenia will host the 2027 European Gymnastics Championship.

Paris Deputy Mayor Arnaud Ngatcha congratulated Artur Davtyan for his second-place showing, adding that Paris will hold special importance for him as a result.

Armenian Ambassador to France Hasmik Tolmajyan congratulated the Davtyans, saying Armenia and Armenians globally followed their performances with great excitement.
